For as long as I can remember, art has been a big part of my life. This love for the arts started young, and continued throughout high school. In high school, I was lucky enough to first be exposed to the photographic process and photography as an art form. I learned the workings of a darkroom, as well as the workings of cameras and film, but still I had only just begun to fall for the photographic process. To me, photography was an art form and a way to document just about everything I could. It was a no brainer for me to continue to follow my passion, so I majored in Photography when I attended Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. It was there where I really learned the photographic process -- learning the workings of medium and large format, digital photography and photoshop, as well as lighting. It was in college where I really developed my personal style, my sense of humor and awareness of whats going on around me, and of course, I developed my personal voice, which quickly became the concepts behind my photographs. I was able to say things in my photography that mattered to me, about the world that surrounds myself. It was up to me what I wanted to convey, and it was my job to convey these thoughts and ideas to others; it was a way to let others into the world I saw around me; to share the beautiful, the strange, and the moments that are part of everyday but are usually overlooked. There is something about photography I find so romantic and powerful. I love the idea of capturing light; a single moment, a progression of time; photography can do it all. To me, photography was able to do things other art forms could not. Photography is truth, and "truth"; photography can be raw, or photography can be created. The power of a lasting photograph lies within making an image that will survive the test of time and will continue to speak to people. My photography is a personal artistic tool. I am currently continuing my studies in photography at Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena. I enjoy having fun with my photography -- I shoot whenever I can, whenever someone will pose for me. I like to convey my sense of humor and my view of the world around me. I am intrigued by the new horizons we are crossing in photography. The photograph has become an instantaneous way to share our lives with one another with sites like flickr and facebook. With the new tools and formats, and the ever growing presence of video, photography seems to have an uncertain future at the current time, but will always remain something very special to me.
